Philip Lehman is Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives of the School
of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University (of which he is an
alumnus). In that role, he is responsible for leading the creation of
the Strategic Plan for the School and coordinating the execution of the
Plan, with a strong focus on Advancement and External Relations
(including alumni relations, development, marketing, communications and
media relations, corporate partnerships, and government relations).
He concurrently serves as President and CEO of iCarnegie, Inc., an
educational subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University, where he leads
strategic, corporate and business-related activities. iCarnegie
provides “curriculum powered by Carnegie Mellon” and other
education-related services to educational institutions worldwide.
Earlier, Dr. Lehman was Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing
at iCarnegie.
Dr. Lehman has spent more than twenty years in the software industry,
principally in executive management in early- and medium-stage
businesses. He was a “Day One” executive at Transarc Corporation
(later acquired by IBM), where he started both the distributed file
systems and services businesses. He also served as the Services
Executive for IBM’s Transaction Systems business in the IBM Software
Group, and managed a group of more than 120 consultants and educators
on five continents, with growth in excess of 100% annually.
Dr. Lehman holds the B.S. degree in Computer Science and Mathematics
from Yale University, as well as the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer
Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Lehman currently serves
on the Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science Dean’s
Advisory Board and the CMU/SCS Alumni Advisory Board (of which he is
former Chair).
